Appointment of Acting CEO

We are pleased to welcome Gail Wason as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Alliance (NATSIHA), commencing on February 24th 2025.

A proud Djungan and Wakamin woman from Mareeba, Gail brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. With over two decades in the health sector, she has been a strong advocate for health equity, ensuring that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to high-quality, culturally safe healthcare.

Before joining NATSIHA, Gail served as the CEO of Mulungu Health Service for over 10 years, where she led the organisation’s significant growth, expanded services, implemented innovative health programs, and reinforced the importance of preventative healthcare. Her leadership has been recognised through multiple industry awards, and she continues to be a driving force in empowering communities to take charge of their health.

Gail’s vision for NATSIHA is one of collaboration, strengthening the voice of our community-controlled health organisations, and ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people receive the care they deserve. We look forward to the leadership, experience, and passion she brings to this role.
