The Board

A Message from the CEO

To achieve equity in Health and Wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Far North Queensland.

It’s very clear what we are here to do, I will lead the organisation to achieve our vision during my tenure as CEO.

I commenced as the CEO with strong message from the board "Grow the Organisation" with this I commenced a large-scale review of all systems and processes internally. I wanted to have a strong Strategic Plan and robust systems to create a strong foundation to grow.  Since my commencement I have been focused on Strategic Sustainability, Growth and Development and Member engagements ensuring we have a cohesive and transparent approach in all our work mechanism.

As the CEO of NATSIHA I endeavor to not just grow the organisation but to lift the organisation to a highly functioning Regional Peak Body. This can be achieved with a strong foundation and strong internal systems and robust support mechanisms. I will commence to expand the brand and market NATSIHA across the regions, state and nationally- it's imperative to have consistency and relevance.

I am fortunate enough to have such a collective mix of key influential members from across the FNQ space thus allowing for a great diverse inclusion of various sectors, industries and demographics.  I acknowledge my board and express my gratitude to be able to work with such great Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders.

NATSIHA will see an expansion of resources and staffing along with key developments to ensure members are strengthening through social environments and growing key partnerships and relations to ensure the ACCHO’s stay strong, community based and continue to provide a service to our people.

As the Regional Peak Body, we have an obligation to the people we serve "the community" and I am a strong advocate of Community Control and the hegemony of the structures of a strong community based organisation. The members have a representative across the regional platform and at the state level to raise the priorities and needs of FNQ to the arenas and tables to create change, inclusion and better ways forward for our people.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors identified the key priority areas with consultation with CEO to ensure the strategic focuses are relevant and can be operationalized at the ground level ensuring relevance, responsiveness, reflective of the environment and current for the members and communities NATSIHA represents.

The aim is to provide quality holistic services in a culturally appropriate manner to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities in the region, with the intent to raise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health status to a level equivalent to the wider Australian community through regional representation at the Local, State, National levels.

NATSIHA and its Members engage with mainstream specialists’ services to provide culturally safe services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is our aim to facilitate better service accessibility, greater choice and smoother pathways to improve the patient journey and care coordination of our people in our footprint.
